Updated Eat to Live Guide! Plus Psyllium Husk for Your Detox???

Updated Eat to Live Guide-Fall 2025

I wish that I had this document 10 years ago as I started my journey to optimal health and was struggling in so many ways.

As people have asked questions I have edited and re-edited to make it more simple and easy to follow.  I feel like it is pretty much perfected at this point and hope that you find it super helpful.

I try to not make too many recommendations because I know that if there are too many things, it gets too overwhelming.  Yet I want to make sure that you have enough recommendations to serve you well on your health journey.

Psyllium Husk—The Miracle Botanical???

The main edit that I have added recently is psyllium husk. I have used psyllium husk off and on throughout my health journey, and could never quite put my finger on if I loved it or hated it…

I finally figured out why…

Psyllium husk is the main ingredient in Metamucil (minus the food colorings and other nasty added ingredients) It is amazing for so many things because it helps to pull out dampness and congestion from the body. It swells up to 10 times its size as you drink water and it mops up and moves out the toxins.

The problem with psyllium husk?

It’s really not meant to be used continually DAILY long-term!  So many people I think rely on it that way, as I did often on throughout my journey, and then I realize that it can be very drying to the body and can actually pull nutrients out of our body as well.

So using psyllium husk during a cleanse or on an as needed basis can be an amazing thing.  It’s a great tool to use along with my $99 annual parasite, heavy metal and biofilm cleanse, then continue to use only as needed.

Psyllium husk is an amazing tool for modulating histamine, healing skin issues such as allergies, acne, rashes, hives, addressing pathogenic microbes such as yeast mold and fungus, supporting weight management, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, IBD and for supporting blood sugar, cholesterol lung and gut issues…

All because we are pulling the dampness, congestion and toxins out of the body.

I hope that you find it super helpful for your journey To optimal health. Remember, I post daily videos on social media and I hope to see you there. The best place to follow me is on Facebook or Instagram because I am not posting as often on TikTok or YouTube.  Hope to see you there and post me a comment if you would. I would love to hear from you!

Also, if you are using my products, I would love if you would go on the shop page and Post us a review. People love to read reviews, but it’s really hard to get people to write them!!!  You could copy and paste that same review onto Google reviews on the review page of the website if you would be inclined. Drop me a note if you do on both places and I will add a free oil blend of your choice to your next order♥️♥️♥️

FREE Hormone Balance Tip Sheet

Struggling with hormone imbalances like I did 10 years ago? Convinced that there is a better way than expensive man made Hormone Replacement Therapies? Concerned about the risks of those? (and yes we should be!) Since the beginning of humanity people healed their bodies and balanced their hormones with food, sunshine, natural remedies and self-care. I promise you we still can today!

Natural Remedies are inexpensive and they work! Drinking a cup of lemon balm tea at bedtime can do wonders for lowering cortisol and providing better sleep. If you are struggling with weight gain, histamine issues, blood sugar regulation, IBD or a host of other issues like yeast, mold, fungus etc. try a teaspoon or two of psyllium husk daily. I’m getting great feedback on that tip and lots of others on that tip sheet.

Print my FREE Hormone tip sheet for more info on those plus lots of other tips to get you on your journey to better health! You can find that link at the top of the home page of my website, NewDayWholeHealth.com .

Health Hack #3 Support for Detox Pathways & Herxheimer Reactions-Top 10 Health Hacks

By Nancy Knudson, Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach

Methylation is our body’s process to detoxify and turn our food into energy.  It’s estimated that 60% of the population has genetic variants that cause us to not do those two things very well. When our Detox pathways are not open we tend to get herxheimer reactions. This “feeling worse before we get better” can be minimized by supporting our detox pathways.

#1:  SUPER SIMPLE TRICK FOR HELPING TO OPEN UP THE LIVER AND GALLBLADDER DETOX PATHWAYS…

Keep a bottle of organic castor oil in your shower.  Put about a tablespoon in the palm of your hand and apply it to your liver and gallbladder area (just under your rib cage on the right side of your body) – amazing for opening up those detox pathways.  Apply also to the neck and lymph to support lymph drainage. The hot water of the shower will drive that castor oil right in and go right to work for you.  You can then use soap if you would like when you are done massaging it in. Castor oil also moisturizes and makes your skin nice and smooth.

#2:  MAKE SURE YOUR BOWELS ARE MOVING WELL!

(NOTE: For some people fiber is an issue and the more you put in the more constipated you become.  If that is the case for you be sure to watch Health Hack #2 and consider enzymes I like the Family Code Multi Vitamin because it is all in one with Multivitamin, methylated B vitamins, probiotics and enzymes.  If constipation has been a chronic issue look also at the Shilajit Minerals and or the Desiccated Pancreas Glandular on the shop page as well.) Addressing bowel function can be super super tricky!!

For most people psyllium husk is a great form of fiber that works for constipation and or for diarrhea.  Psyllium Husk expands 20 times its amount, soaks up water and mops & cleans the intestinal tract as it goes through.  It’s super thick when you stir it in your water.  I recommend that you add 2-3 teaspoons of organic psyllium husk to a glass, add water and drink it down.  Don’t stir it – it makes it easier to get it down.  Other things you can do to support methylation:  drink plenty of water, drink hot water with lemon (such a great way to cleanse and detoxify); use a sauna; take a saltwater bath; use acupressure – YES, you can do acupressure on yourself – check my folder labeled “ACUPRESSURE” on my profile page.  I’ve got about 12 different acupressure techniques that you can learn and do on yourself!

#3 THE MAGIC OF CILANTRO AND BITTER HERBS…

Cilantro is an amazing heavy metal detoxifier.  Bitter herbs stimulate your enzyme production and turmeric & black pepper decrease inflammation.  You can incorporate these things into your daily diet.  Also, check out my DAILY DIGEST blend that incorporates all these things.  Apply 1-5 drops daily into the naval or bottom of feet for as a super simple way to support gentle daily detoxification.

Health Hack #2 is addressing leaky gut and Biofilms!

Leaky gut is when the lining of the small intestine has become permeable. Food particles can then exit out of the lining of the small intestine and get directly into your bloodstream kind of like poking holes in a Ziploc bag with a toothpick!

Whether you’re struggling with cancer or diabetes, acne, allergies, asthma, IBS, IBD, or any of those other letters I don’t even know about, addressing leaky gut and biofilms is KEY!!!

Top 10 Health Hacks, Hack #1…Start Eating CLEAN—ER!

Your diet doesn’t have to be perfect, but most people need some improvement!

As a functional medicine certified health coach doing what I do for more than a decade my diet isn’t perfect.  My health isn’t perfect either, but it is 100 times better than where I was 15 years ago when I was struggling with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic infection, neurological symptoms, insomnia, depression, and my list goes on! My life looks nothing like it did back then and I’m here say you can be better too!

So, start with eating cleaner!

Addressing Biofilms: Time to Ditch that Slimy Gut Sludge!!!

What Are Biofilms?

Biofilms are a slimy sludge that bacteria, molds, fungus, and other microorganisms form over the top of themselves to protect themselves in like a cocoon. They are often antibiotic resistant, and very hard to get rid of.  They can lie dormant and then reemerge during times of stress or poor health.

Biofilms can be found in nature on plants, rocks or even metal.  An example is the sludge on a pond. The slime that is down in your bathroom sink and the plaque that is on our teeth are also examples. They can be present in catheters, breast or other medical implants, chronic wounds, lung, heart, and any kind of infection. It is estimated that 80% of worldwide infections are biofilm infections.
